Essential Tips

Five techniques that make you significantly more effective across all difficulties.

  1. 01

    Learn the Noob Combo

The Plasma Pistol + Magnum combination is the single most efficient way to kill shielded enemies — two actions on every difficulty, and it saves ammo for heavier weapons.

  2. 02

Treat the Magnum as a Primary Weapon

The M6D Magnum has a 3× headshot multiplier and is accurate at all ranges. On Legendary it is often more valuable than the Sniper Rifle thanks to ammo efficiency and flexibility. Don't waste it on Hunters or vehicles.

  3. 03

    Prioritize Targets Correctly

Encounters get easier when you remove the right enemy first. Elites lead squads, Hunters punish close range, Jackals block frontal damage, and Grunts panic once their Elites die.

  4. 04

    Master Crouch Jumping

Press crouch while airborne to pull your legs up and reach ledges a normal jump can't. Essential for secrets, collectibles, and speedrun routes — crouch near the peak of the jump.

    Crouch jump FAQ
  5. 05

    Manage Heavy Ammo Carefully

Sniper Rifle and Rocket Launcher ammo is limited. Save rockets for groups, vehicles, and Hunters; use the Sniper for Elite headshots; strip weapons from fallen enemies to stay stocked on Legendary.
